PERSONAL TRAINING


My Philosophy of Personal Training:

I’ve been around long enough to know that not everyone has the same goals, and that goals that are different than your own are not wrong.

I believe in strength training for everyone, but understand that strength and its application mean very different things to different people. Over my time as a trainer, I have trained everyone from professional athletes to octogenarians with multiple joint replacements. I can help you reach whatever goal you have, whether that’s training for a sport or event or just wanting to walk up the stairs without pain. Everyone can benefit from resistive exercise, but the application is key. If you’re tired of trainers that don’t listen to you and meet you where you are, you’ve come to the right place.

I believe in mobility and flexibility training for everyone, and that establishing good movement is the necessary first step in any fitness pursuit. it takes patience and focus and diligence…..like all the worthwhile things in life.

I believe in cardiovascular and cardiorespiratory fitness for everyone; I wouldn’t do VO2max testing if I didn’t! I also believe that it if you’re not the runner type, cardio doesn’t have to be boring and soul-crushing (unless you want it to), and if you use your heart rate as a training guide you can do cardio in a wide variety of ways beyond the conventional running/rowing/biking modalities that are typically in a gym setting (my Fitlights, for instance)

I believe training can be hard and still be fun! It’s a beautiful life, and way too short to not be fit enough to enjoy the things you want to do!

I can train you in a small studio setting in Wyndmoor PA , virtually online, or in-home!

WHAT ARE FITLIGHTS?

FItlights are LED discs connected via bluetooth, designed for physically training reaction, speed, agility, and decision making skills.  Originally designed by a Danish handball player, the sporting, fitness & cognitive applications for FitLights are virtually unlimited. Their effective application can run the gambit from professional athletic training to brain injury rehabilitation; they are completely appropriate for all ages, training histories, and cognitive capabilities. 

VISUAL AND COGNITIVE

The thing most often missing from conventional training drills is the visual and decision-making component.  Each time you train with the FitLights, regardless of the training goal, you MUST see, recognize, and make a decision rather than simply completing the drill sequence as instructed.  Not only is this more intrinsically motivating, it's FUN!
