Why do I struggle to control my weight?
The answer lies in your metabolism.
Why test my Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)?
Metabolism is simply the conversion of food to energy; metabolic rate is a measure of how much food, or fat, is converted to energy in a single day to maintain basic body functions such as heartbeat, breathing, and maintenance of body heat. In other words, it's how many calories you consume by just being alive, expressed in calories per day.
When restricting calories to change body composition, knowing what your daily resting metabolic rate is lets you know accurately how many calories you can consume in a day without gaining weight or fat.
No need to guess, use imprecise algorithms or generalized diet plans that are not made for YOU. When you have the right information, you can tailor your own diet specifically to your body's individual internal chemistry, making determining both caloric intake and energy output much more precise.
How does it work?
The Korr CardioCoach takes advantage of the very precise and direct relationship between the burning of calories and the consumption of oxygen.
It is a scientific fact that the burning of 1 calorie (kilocalorie) requires the consumption of exactly 208.6 milliliters of oxygen. With this known constant, if you can measure oxygen consumption, you can precisely measure calorie output.
Your RMR test will measure the efficiency of your personal oxygen consumption. The flow of your air will be controlled in order to precisely calibrate your oxygen exchange. Performed while resting, your nostrils will be gently held closed while you breathe normally through a mouthpiece, into a tube connected to the Korr CardioCoach.
Upon completion of the test, you will be provided with a full color workup on the way that your body metabolizes energy as you resting metabolism. Armed with these unique metrics, you will be able to adapt your calorie intake on a given day based upon your personal fitness goals.
$75 per test (includes disposable breathing apparatus)
Important Notes: Preparing for the Test
In order to get the most accurate results, it is important to follow the standard protocol for a Resting Metabolic Rate test:
You should avoid eating 4 hours before the test.
Avoid exercising prior to your test.
Avoid the use of stimulants such as caffeine. We know. That's rough. But you can do it and it's definitely worth it!
